Our material all came out of the mezzanine in building 221, with the only material left in this great building being the uprights that held the carcass up.

Mare Island was the first Naval base on the West Coast, first established in 1854. The island itself has a rich history, and became one of the biggest and most productive ship yard’s in the world in WW II, 41,000 employees and over a quarter of them women.
