Become Part of Sustainable Food Bounty
Green Scene Radio Show www.heritagesalvage.com/content/audio-files guest, Grayson James Petaluma Bounty's Chief Bounty Hunter, taught us what it means to glean, how to be a bounty hunter, why to volunteer and invited us to have dinner on the bounty.
What is a Bounty Hunter, you may ask?
Bounty Hunters are members of the community that help get healthy food to hand and mouths of people in need. They Glean, or gather any usable parts of crops that remain. Then they bring those crops into Petaluma Bounty to distribute.
In Sonoma County, it is apple season. This is a great time to gather good fallen or excess apples from orchards and backyards. Ask permission, to glean the surplus and bring to a Petaluma Bounty drop off spot. See www.petalumabounty.org for locations. You will be helping those in need enjoy healthy local apples!
Petaluma Bounty is a community based sustainable food system with a mission to provide healthy food for everyone.
According to Grayson thousands have already come to the Bounty to Volunteer. Become a volunteer! Studies show when people volunteer, it increases their well being.
Ever the advocate of volunteering, donating and giving whenever possible, we add, you never know what may come from giving of your time and energy, be surprised! You may meet cool new people, learn gardening, network, it may even lead to a new job.
